This project is good for beginners starting out with Arduino programming.<\/p>\n<p>You will require the following apparatus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 x Arduino Uno<\/li>\n<li>1 x 330 ohm resistor (orange, orange, brown)<\/li>\n<li>1 x 10k ohm resistor (brown, black, orange)<\/li>\n<li>1 x LED<\/li>\n<li>1 x Push button\/tactile button<\/li>\n<li>1 x Breadboard<\/li>\n<li>Some jumper wires<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Connect the circuit as shown in the image above.<\/p>\n<p>We are using one side of the push button.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect a wire from one side of the tactile button to GND of Arduino<\/li>\n<li>Connect the 10k resistor from the other side of the button to the 5V of Arduino<\/li>\n<li>From the same pin of the button, run a wire to pin 10 of Arduino<\/li>\n<li>Connect the anode of the LED to pin 6 of Arduino<\/li>\n<li>Connect a 330 ohm resistor from the cathode of the LED to GND of Arduino<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upload the following code to the Arduino board;<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"generic\">\/\/Declare pins you are going to use\r\nint ledPin = 6;\r\nint pushButton = 10;\r\nint val = 0; \/\/variable to hold state of button\r\n\r\nvoid setup() { \r\n\r\npinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);   \/\/set mode of pin as output\u00a0\r\npinMode(pushButton, INPUT); \/\/set pin as input to read button state\r\n\r\n\/\/Begin with LED off\r\ndigitalWrite(ledPin, LOW);\r\n}\r\n\r\nvoid loop() {\r\nval = digitalRead(pushButton); \/\/Read button state\r\n\r\nif(val == HIGH){\r\n  digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH);  \/\/if button is pressed turn on LED\r\n}\r\n\r\nelse{\r\n  digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW); \/\/Turn off LED when button is released\r\n}\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p>When you press the button, pin 10 goes HIGH, or is at 5V, hence the LED is put on.
